10/15

I have completed all of my courses that I will be transferring into my B.S. Cybersecurity program in the last month. I went through 8 courses as fast as I could while retaining as much information possible. Truly starting to feel comfortable with each topic and some topics that will be covered in my major.

The semester doesn't start until Dec. 1st, but I am taking this time to hone my skills and learn new things in the process. This webpage was built on Google Sites, which doesn't allow me to upload or edit any code, although, that is something I am interested in gaining more experience. I am really loving learning again after spending so much time being stagnant and doing the same things every day.

So, what have I been learning and what have I been doing to motivate myself? Really...it's just, daily, reminding myself of what I want to achieve, what I want out of life, and where I want to be in the near and distant future. For my last, roughly, ten years of working experience, I don't have too much to show for it. Of course, I do have the soft skills that I have developed and some knowledge of different industries...I am still looking to break into the IT industry and specifically a security type of position.

I have enrolled with The American Dream Academy, taking a personal finance course and a course on automating tasks with Python (which I am trying to learn at the moment). I also found out that in my state, as long as you have a library card, you get access to many more Coursera courses. Obviously, I had to jump on that offfer. Along with the free access to courses, I am able to find books to read for free, in fact, on my phone I read through Rich Dad, Poor Dad, which inspired me to really be mindful of my finances and financial goals for my future.

It has been an exciting time for me learning about new topics and gaining skills. After completing a networking class, I feel more comfortable with these ideas while I am enrolled in Coursera's Google Cybersecurity certification class. Once I do start my B.S. at the university, I will be able to schedule testing for A+, Network+, and Security+. And, with that, I am feeling confident that I will be able to pass those exams. I am also going to on a discord call with a group later today where we will be going through CTF to gain even more experience.

Happy Cybersecurity awareness month everyone!
